Several months ago, we recommended the documentary “Mrs Goundo’s Daughter” by Barbara Attie and Janet Goldwater. On February 9th 2011, the movie will have its national broadcasting premiere in the US.
Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter recounts a Malian mother’s fight for asylum in the U.S. to protect her two-year-old daughter from female genital mutilation.
The award-winning documentary has shown at dozens of festivals worldwide including Human Rights Watch (NY and London), Silverdocs, Human Rights DerHumALC (Argentina), Disthwanelo Human Rights (Botswana) and on the Harlem Stage.
