The Singapore Committee for UN Women invites you to a film screening of Desert Flower. The film tells the powerful story of Somali supermodel Waris Dirie, who is now a UN special embassador and spokesperson campaigning against female genital mutilation and founder of the Desert Flower Foundation.
Desert Flower: The Extraordinary Journey of a Desert Nomad was originally an autobiographical book published in 1998 about the life of Waris Dirie. In 2009, the book was adapted into a movie of the same name. Produced by Peter Herrmann and Benjamin Herrmann, the Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede plays Waris in the title role.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion.
